Analysis of hydrodynamics and thermal dispersion by numerical modelling in Sele Strait, West Papua

Indonesian standard for wastewater quality regulates 40°C the maximum outfall temperature. Meanwhile, seawater temperature below 30°C is utilized cooling facility which intake area close to source. This research examine hydrodynamics and thermal dispersion condition in PT Kilang Pertamina Internasional Kasim process plant Sele Strait, West Papua. study uses a two-dimensional numerical model Mike21 one-year simulation. Considering limited field data, ERA5 reanalysis satellite was input boundary. It also finds discharge from river with assumption of 26.5°C The validated tidal data an R-squared number 0.86. shows current speed varied between 0-0.5 m/s. Two-scenario simulation (outfall 37°C & 40°C) that frequency 27°C water 81.5% 85.8% respectively. Both scenarios give less than 10% above 30°C. concludes design planned proper plant.
